Dark Skies 40th Anniversary Memorial

A long, long time ago, in an incipient Shire far, far away, a small group of young people from a role-playing group in Moe, Victoria met the SCA. And thus, the Shire of Dark Skies came into being. Our first event was held in February AS XIX, in a small country hall in the hamlet of Trafalgar East. A hall with a wooden floor, exposed beams, an open fireplace, and an outdoor toilet. Not to mention to a kitchen that only two people could safely work in, with incredibly basic functionality!

While Dark Skies disbanded decades ago, that little Shire gave Lochac a three-times Prince and Knight, plus two members of the Order of the Pelican. (Three if you count Cristoval, who we always considered one of us, even though he never lived in Dark Skies.)

Forty years on, those founding members of Dark Skies who remain invite Lochac to join us in remembering our past, celebrating the present, and looking forward to the future. Please join us for the Dark Skies 40th Anniversary Memorial.

The feast menu will include as many dishes from the original feast as we can remember. There will be hedgehogs, and gingerbread people. If anyone who went to the original event can remember what they ate, we’d love to hear from you!

A&S competitions: Oldest garb, Best “no shit, there I was” SCA history story (bonus points for stories about events in or people from Dark Skies).
