About Fields of Gold

At Fields of Gold there will be many enjoyable activities – armoured combat, rapier combat, target archery, equestrian skill at arms, classes on period arts and sciences, the Crown and the Baronage holding court, good food, and frivolity.

This is a garbed event. If you are new to the society please contact our Hospitaler (hospitaller@politarchopolis.lochac.sca.org) to arrange for loan of clothing and utensils.

Contact the bookings officer if you have any questions before the event.

Volunteering

Our events run on the labour of volunteers. Please ask at the sign-in desk if you would like to help out. There are many easy and enjoyable tasks, such as making announcements, helping serve meals, helping run activities, washing dishes, and packing up the site at the end of the event.

Accommodation

There are not any dorm rooms or bunk houses at this site, but camping on site is available. Or stay in nearby Bungendore. Or Canberra is only half an hour away. If you have travelled far and would like to stay with a local SCA member and you do not know anyone local, please mention this when booking.

The site has toilets and showers.

Food

Event is fully catered with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals provided from Friday night to Sunday lunch. If you have a special dietary requirement please advise when booking.

Menu now available here!

Off-board tickets are also available. There is a small outdoors kitchen available at the campsite for use by campers. If you are planning to provide your own cooking set-up please check whether there are any fire restrictions in place that may impact you.

Amenities

The closest shops are in Bungendore, a short drive from the site.
The closest hospital is in Queanbeyan.

Disabled facilities

The site is Bungendore Showgrounds. This site is remarkably flat but mostly unpaved ground. A standard wheelchair may struggle, but scooters will be fine. Indoor areas are concreted or have floorboards. There are ramps and hardly any stairs.

There is a permanent disabled toilet.

Merchants

Permanent merchants will be set up throughout Fields of Gold. Plus there will be limited-time Markets on the Saturday during lunch. If you wish to be a merchant, please advise when booking or contact the steward.
